Sherry has an Honours Degree in Psychology (with a minor in Youth Work) and 20 years of community service experience and over 15 years clinical/counselling experience working with adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of settings. Sherry aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to gain insight in the areas of life that may be causing distress. In a collaborative treatment process, Sherry will work with clients to enable them to overcome these issues and develop towards their full-potential. Sherry’s services are trauma and attachment informed. She has an interest in working with complex cases were there are multiple presenting issues. Neurodivergent and LQBTQI friendly.

Sherry uses an integrated therapeutic approach to counselling and psychotherapy tailoring the intervention to meet the unique needs of the client. Sherry has completed professional development in various therapeutic modalities and will discuss with each client which approach can best suit their needs. Sherry has advanced training in Schema Therapy (ST) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Other approaches and treatment techniques may include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Clinical Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy, Spiritually-Oriented Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic approaches, Expressive Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness, Directive and Non-directive Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique EFT-Tapping and Simple Energy Technique.

Sherry has been working in private practice as a psychologist since 2013. She has been working with children, adolescents and adults mostly in the areas of eating disorders, body image, weight management, obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders and grief and loss. Before starting in private practice, Sherry worked for various non-government and not for profit organisations in clinical and supervisory roles. She has experience working at a specialist adolescent mental health service with adolescents and their families experiencing depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation. Sherry has coordinated a drug and alcohol service specialising in the treatment of adolescents and adults experiencing difficulties related to their own or another’s drug and alcohol use and co-occurring mental health issues. Sherry has worked counselling children and adolescents who have experienced parental separation and family conflict. She has experience running groups related to drug and alcohol use, parenting, grief and loss, family and relationships, bullying and friendships, self-esteem, and parental separation. Sherry also has experience coordinating peer support groups for psychology students and a peer support group for gentle attachment-based parenting. Sherry has a special interest in the area of transpersonal psychology and spiritually based psychotherapy. She has a passion for assisting people on their journey of overcoming the psychological barriers to self-actualisation and living a life of purpose.
